Airey House Trouble : [

Hey .
Has anybody bought an Airey house off the local council and think they have been 'missled'? , Has anyone managed to get any compensation towards cost of repair? ,
This is my situation ,
We bought our Airey around 1989 after they were classified as defective.
We were told but they said the defect had been overcome with works that had been done previously ie. a ring beam, we have now worked out that this house is still a defective property and that it was valued as a non defective house.
Thinking about the 2010 decent homes standard that all councils are supposed to meet, we are wondering if they might decide to flatten our street or if they might reinstate the ones they still own.
We have been quoted around £40,000 to reinstate and Airey house.
We are in a village, the Aireys are on a culdesac of 16 and the council still own 8 of them. We don't know our legal position.
We don't know if we should brick it up at our full expense.
The council could decide to do theirs and offer ours to be done at a reduced price or they might decide to flatten them all to get more houses on the plot :[ .
As with most councils they are not giving us any answers.
And anyone who owns one of these will know how expensive they are to heat.
If anyone has any infomation that you think will be of use it would be appreciated if you could comment back to my blog .
Many thanks Dee :]
